ROV EOD Deployment System – REDS

REDS

The Remote EOD Deployment System (REDS) is a cutting-edge, platform-agnostic underwater EOD charge deployment and delivery solution. This innovative system enhances current in-service ROVs with multiple delivery capabilities, enabling them to address new and evolving surface and subsea threats, offering unparalleled versatility in the underwater battle space.

Why Choose REDS?

REDS is a high-accuracy, high-precision, interchangeable system designed for multiple applications. It allows operators to remotely deploy, position, and fire an explosive charge adjacent to a target, maintaining the charge’s position throughout the operation.

Engineered for adaptability, REDS uses the same basic frame setup for any application, integrating seamlessly with the size and performance of the deploying ROV. Its lightweight, non-magnetic, modular design ensures easy assembly and maximum operational flexibility.

REDS Features & Specifications

Modular Shaped Charges

  • Alford Shaped Charges: Achieve low order deflagration, high order, selective disruption, or case flooding.
  • Compatibility: Compatible with Vulcan, Pluton, and Magma charges.
  • Deployment Flexibility: Deploy charges individually or in multi-charge arrays (adaptor required).
  • Pre-Deployment Configuration: The charge attack angle is fixed pre-deployment.
  • Extended Reach: Length is variable for the desired stand-off, with extended reach/height deployment arms available.
  • Diver Deployment: Can be deployed by diver if operations allow.

Universal Demolition Block (UDB)

  • Compatibility: REDS is compatible with multiple explosive charge systems.
  • Smaller NEQ Charges: Deploy charges of 1-8 kg+ as overpressure charges or for EOD countermining operations.
  • Stand-off Maintenance: Maintain ROV stand-off during deployment.
  • Diver Deployment: Can be deployed by diver if operations allow.

Rebar Cutters

  • Size Options: Equip REDS with 15mm, 32mm, or 50mm Rebar Cutters.
  • Multi-Charge Arrays: Deploy charges individually or in multi-charge arrays (adaptor required).
  • Pre-Deployment Configuration: The charge attack angle is fixed pre-deployment.
  • Manipulator Deployment: Deploy Rebar Cutter directly from the ROV’s manipulator.
  • Firing Cable: Runs from the charge to the ROV and then from the ROV to the command station.
  • Diver Deployment: Can be deployed by diver if operations allow.
