Project Yellowstone's W-Etna™ is a high-explosive IED disruption tool developed specifically for the Humanitarian Mine Action (HMA) community. W-Etna's performance mirrors our trusted Vulcan™ charge but with enhanced safety and storage benefits. It utilises Alfords Liquid Explosive (ALX™), binary liquid explosive technology, where neither component is classified as an explosive. The kit comes with both liquids, which only require mixing at the point of deployment.  ALX is designed to overcome the unique challenges in obtaining, storing, and moving explosives encountered in HMA operations.

The individual components of the binary liquid explosive are easy to transport and store

Excellent disruptive performance against heavy-cased IEDs

Simple to operate

Ideal for operations in remote environments

Explosive Load and Performance

Unlike the Vulcan, the W-Etna’s body is sealed; therefore, the NEQ is not variable, and the projectile cannot be changed.

ALX components are provided in easy-to-use containers, in low-volume. They are not classified as explosives when unmixed, enabling easy transportation, storage, and loading.

The water projectile disrupts IEDs with minimal risk of causing a detonation and, in doing so, preserves evidence for post-incident technical investigations.
