The Detonating Cord Clip™ has been designed to provide the user with a swift and reliable method for connecting lengths of Detonating Cord to initiation systems with a variety of configurations. Both have been introduced into British Military service and are supplied in tins of detonating cord from the manufacturer.
The Detcord Clip™ is completely weatherproof and removes the need to use adhesive tape. The larger variant features a unique integral strain relief for detonator leads, a safety feature that prevents inadvertent initiations through violently snagging leads.
The clips have been proof tested in challenging environments both on land and under water by EOD teams. Already in service with the Royal Navy, they have been designated ‘Detonating Clip Non-magnetic’. The Detonating Cord Clip™ is going to replace the traditional metal clips used with British Military Detonating Cord.
The clips are made using a PVC material, which allows for a great degree of flexibility without the risk of damaging the detonating cord outer sheath. As their construction is of a light plastic, they offer the further advantage of having a low lethal fragmentation risk compared to their metallic counter parts. This is particularly useful for operations that are in close proximity to the user and other valuable assets.
The application of the Detonating Cord Clip™ will provide a means of reliably and easily connecting lengths of detonating cord together. No tools are required in its use other than the dexterity of the operator’s fingers.
The detonating cord is simply pulled through the centre of the detonating cord clip and held in place by an interference fit.
