Gatecrasher Modular™ is a water-tamped, modular wall breaching charge for thick concrete and brick, built on the same principle as the Gatecrasher™ but designed for operations where a full Gatecrasher cannot be carried. Four standard modules slot into the Tactical Sleeve — a Velcro-covered nylon carrier — that rolls up for transport, fits into helicopter cabins and confined staging environments, and positions on the target with a single prop stick. Gatecrasher™ is the choice for standard brick and masonry breaching where portability is not the constraint. Covered in our Explosive Breaching & MoE training.
Rolls up for carriage. Four modules secure in the Tactical Sleeve, which rolls tightly for helicopters, vehicles, and tight approach environments
Any array configuration. Modules arrange side-by-side or stacked to size the breach; individual Tactical Sleeve pockets reposition as the target demands
Scalable or fixed load. Type 1 NEQ from 20g to 180g per module; Type 2 fixed at 300g per module for deep penetration of reinforced structures
Quick to connect and fire. Detcord Clips™ accept detonating cord, electric, or shock tube detonators; charge positions with a single prop stick at either end of the sleeve
Type 1 or Type 2 Charges?
| Type 1 | Type 2 | |
|---|---|---|
| Charge type | Sheet explosive, plastic explosive, or detcord in contact with the target | Factory-fitted linear cutting charge |
| NEQ (per module) | 20g–180g (variable); 720g across a four-module standard array | 300g (fixed) |
| Best for | Brick and masonry; adjustable load matched to wall thickness | Reinforced concrete; maximum penetration depth |
Explosive Load and Performance
Gatecrasher Modular™ Type 1
The Type 1 version typically breaches walls and other solid structures. It has three 15mm deep pockets that can accommodate sheet explosive, but operators can also use plastic explosive or detonating cord. Depending on the requirement, the NEQ of each module can be varied from 20g to 180g.
Gatecrasher Modular™ Type 2
The Type 2 version features a specially designed linear cutting charge with an NEQ of 300g. This version cuts the target with deeper penetration. Operators can choose to remove the shaped charge liner and fill the cavity with explosives.
Deployment to Target
Individual modules can be loaded and used in any configuration required, with or without the Tactical Sleeve. The standard configuration for a charge is four modules (provided in a set). The charges come with packs of Detcord Clips™ for connecting detonating cord, electric detonators, or shock tube detonators.
The Tactical Sleeve is made of nylon, covered in Velcro, and has pockets to insert the charges. Individual pockets can be repositioned on the sleeve as required. Pockets at either end of the outside of the sleeve allow it to be positioned on the target using a prop stick.
