The QMod™ is a medium-weight, explosively driven water disruptor designed for use against medium-sized IEDs such as fire extinguishers and gas cylinders or for direct attack through car doors. With the same geometry as an MLVD™, the QMod™ is a quarter of the length, making it easily deployable in various situations. Its blunt projectile design makes it effective for punching and crushing larger targets and allows it to breach steel doors. The QMod™ disruptor is designed with practicality in mind, weighing only 1.9kg when fully loaded. It also boasts a maximum NEQ of 95g, ensuring a powerful explosive effect.

Accurate explosive effect, low NEQ

Low fragmentation

Lightweight, cost-effective charge system

Explosive Load and Performance

QMod™ uses sheet explosive or detonating cord as the propellant and water as the projectile. Each charge comprises two containers: a tamper and a projectile, which fit together to sandwich the explosive charge. End caps urge the two containers together. These end caps feature grooves to allow multiple charges to be joined side-by-side or end-to-end, allowing the size to be adjusted according to the target.
QMod™ produces a short blade-like jet of water. Though less penetrating than an equivalent point-focal jet, this shape increases the ability to penetrate heavy cases and destroy the initiation system of the target.

Deployment to Target

Deployable by hand or by ROV, a single module is suitable for disrupting wooden and metal boxes up to the size of a 40-gallon drum. QMod™ is effective at removing the concrete cladding from suspected roadside IEDs, consisting of projectiles cast in concrete, at a stand-off. It is also capable of disrupting IEDs in steel fire extinguishers or barrels and penetrating a vehicle door to attack an IED within.
You can also use QMod™ in breaching to inject irritants such as CS or pepper. A charge, placed against a stud wall, creates a gun port while simultaneously injecting 0.6 litres of liquid containing irritant, immediately incapacitating occupants of the room.

Safety

The charges have been constructed with no metal components, ensuring minimal projection of dangerous fragments. Water surrounds the explosive, tamping and imparting a higher proportion of the explosive energy to the jet. The water tamping also suppresses the flash of the explosive and reduces the shockwave generated by the charge, making it much safer than the uncontrolled recoil of heavy disruptors.
