The deceptively simple Universal Demolition Block™ (UDB) serves as a small, standard explosive charge for demolition and acts as a booster charge for larger charges. The UDB, with its innovative matchbox concept, is highly versatile. It features two sliding parts – a tray for holding either 250g or 500g of plastic explosive and an outer sleeve that not only contains and protects the explosive but also provides multiple means of attachment and initiation. Operators can join individual charges lengthways or widthways, using integral interlocking projections on the sides, to make larger charges. UDB has three initiation points: two on the side and one on the end. The colour denotes the different versions of UDB—beige for UDB250 and grey for UDB500.
UDB500 can accommodate most plastic explosive blocks

Deployment to Target
UDB can arranged end-to-end using the end rail or configured side-by-side using a simple hinge and pin system. The side-by-side charges have the advantage of being fitted to a curved surface while maintaining good charge contact.
The side-by-side method enables use as a slab demolition charge, with charge weight scaled in multiples of 250g or 500g.
The internal dimensions of the loading trays accommodate either 250g or 500g of most military or commercial plastic explosives. Explicitly designed for PE7, cartridges can be inserted into the UDB in their original wrapping. Alternatively, explosives can be cut to size or moulded into the explosive tray ready for use.
Operators requiring additional attachment methods can use HydroTape™, Breacher’s Tape™ and magnetic pads.
